Reminder about Christmas day in bubbles 

 

On Christmas Day only you are legally allowed to form a ‘Christmas bubble‘ with up to three households – enabling you to meet in private homes and places of worship.

However, the government advice is keep visits short, limit the number of people in your bubble and minimise close contact.

Self-isolating if you have come from a tier 4 area

Anyone who has travelled to Greater Manchester from a tier 4 area since December 19 is being asked to self-isolate for 10 days.

Older residents are being targeted by Covid scams – callers are offering home vaccines and payment for access to vaccinations.

Nobody will be contacted to have their vaccine at home and the vaccine is free – please share this with friends and family. Find out what happens if you are eligible for the vaccine.

 

Looking after your mental health and emotional wellbeing this Christmas 

Many people are feeling overwhelmed, anxious or are experiencing a low mood right now.

Many of us may find Christmas difficult already for lots of different reasons.

The coronavirus pandemic is affecting the way many of us live our lives, and it’s normal that this will affect your mental health.

Talking can really help. There’s a range of support for anyone struggling.

Support hub availability during Christmas

 

Bolton Community Hub will operate the following opening times over Christmas:

 

24 December: 8.30am – 4pm

25 December: Closed

26 – 28 December: 9am – 1.30pm

29 – 30 December: 8.30am – 5pm  

31 December: 8.30am – 4pm

1 January: Closed 

2 – 3 January: 9am – 1.30pm

4 January: Reopen 8.30am – 5.30pm 

 

The hub coordinates support for those who do not have any other way of sourcing food and medical supplies. They are also helping vulnerable residents to access hardship grants.

A children’s book collection to relieve anxiety from Covid

Is your child feeling anxious and worried about what Covid actually is? They might be missing their friends and the loss of their normal routine or concerned that a loved one will become sick. This can all have an impact on their mental health.

The Reading Agency have curated a booklist that will help children stay safe, calm, connected and hopeful. Many of the titles are free to download here.

We understand that young people in Bolton are getting fed up of the restrictions. Some advice and help is available online.

Changes to bin collections over Christmas and New Year

 

Residents are being reminded that bin collections will change during the festive period.

Waste and Recycling bin collections will continue as normal up until Christmas Eve and, as usual, there will be no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Bolton Market festive opening times

Bolton Market will be open tomorrow (Christmas Eve) 9am to 5pm for any last-minute supplies of fresh food.

It will re-open at 9am on Tuesday 29 December.

Parking update over Christmas and New Year

Please be aware that Deane Road NCP multi-storey car park will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Octagon and Topp Way multi-storey car parks will close on Christmas Day only.

Shoppers can continue to use the free parking available.
